Added by Chris Scott: Records show that the ship left Harwich and made passage to the Downs. Then set out from the Downs to the Nore. It is hard to believe that the route went by the proposed wreck site. It is more likely that it would have been going to the Nore from Harwich or from Woolwich where it may have taken on the guns.  We know the guns were fitted at the time of sinking as they were fired as a distress signal.
